Chalk scraping on boards–
Children learning to read now.
Hands move in cursive.
Books are opened and
history is learned. Kids ask
the teacher for help.
Kids are now older.
They move out. No one
walks in anymore.
Voices are heard in
the hallway. Passing by each
day. Oldest kid dies.
New owners live here.
The room is something else now.
Years pass, lives are lost.
Mid twentieth century.
Restored to former glory.
Kids are remembered.
