Pink Growth

Morning awaking with the cotton candy clouds,
With a soft shine and glow.
Taking a quiet moment to think
And to welcome a new day of peace

 The first flowers of spring,
petal still whispering a hint of green
Cherry blossom trees swaying in the wind
and Hope that blooms within

The bubblegum toothpaste with a
toothbrush the dentist gave because you’re a girl.
A Minnie Mouse themed birthday,
And a smile across your chubby frosting face

The chalk that covers the side walks,
And strawberry lemonade that was never sold.
The balloons on mothers day,
And the gender of a baby I do not know.

The color of my first strawberry banana smoothie
The color of a canvas with light strokes of red
The color of a bleached rose.
The color of a smeared wine stain on a wedding dress

Pink is not a color to ignore,
A simple statement so sweet and loyal
It’s the color beneath our skin
It’s the color of our memories.

The ones that haunt us
And the ones that wrap us in a warm blanket.
The cuts that always bleeds
Is always shown in a shade of pink
