I

In my dream, we’re on the swingset because that’s where we always are (were) and you are holding my hand because that’s what you always do (did) and we are wearing pink and yellow and we say everything at the same time. Ms. Art says (said) we’re like twins– same face, same eyes, same mind, and she mostly only calls me by your name, but it is a compliment of the highest kind. Can we go back in time? Anyway, in my dream, the sun dances in our eyes, and if someone asked me to, I could (couldn’t) tell them every (a) single thing about you. This is (isn’t) the first grade and I don’t (do) miss you.

II

In my dream, we’re on the phone because that’s where we always are (were) and we are planning our next tricks because that’s what we always do (did) and we are in different states now, but (and) it doesn’t (does) matter and we are (aren’t) the same. Is this a game? Can we still play? Anyway, in my dream we are high on adrenaline, and I know (don’t know) how you are doing and what you do for fun and who your friends are. This is (isn’t) the seventh grade and I don’t (do) miss you.

III

This is (isn’t) real.

The dream is all that there is.

Please– remember this.
